Who created the Chipper Kids® line of products?
Chipper Kids® was created by me, Margarette Burnette. I live near Atlanta, GA with my husband and two young children. I’m also a writer, and have contributed articles to Good Housekeeping, Parenting, Essence, and many more magazines.
What was your inspiration for the first book, Counting in the Crazy Garden?
Over the years, I’ve enjoyed creating children’s stories for my sons, with fun characters that entertain my children while also teaching them valuable lessons. Eventually, I gave those little characters names: Arnold Chipper, his little brother Albert Chipper, and their friend Maria.
One story was very popular: Arnold makes yucky “snacks” from his backyard “garden” to share with his friends. Nobody wanted what he offered, but by the end of the story, Arnold’s friends helped him learn how to use his garden to make real, healthy food.
The script eventually landed in the hands of an editor, who encouraged me to create a children’s book about the characters. Why are you looking for Guest Readers?
I’ve been very successful at reading and selling Counting in the Crazy Garden at daycare centers, schools and libraries in the Atlanta area, where I live, and other locations, but the story needs to continue to be shared in other cities with more parents, teachers and students. That’s why I’d like to potentially partner with you to help spread the word!
What makes a Guest Reader for Chipper Kids® products successful?
It’s easy! Guest Readers simply introduce this book and companion book-on-DVD to schools, libraries and childcare centers in their community. They generally choose to schedule a Guest Reader event and send order forms home to parents.
How do Guest Readers get paid?
Guest Readers receive a flat fee for each book visit they conduct. They also receive a commission on any products they sell. All Guest Reader events must be pre-approved.

If you are approved, we will send you an Agreement. Once we receive the signed Agreement, we’ll mail you a Get Started package, which includes a copy of the book and DVD, and you can schedule your visits!
